DVD Digital Copies
Swaptree recently received an inquiry regarding a "Digital Copy" of a DVD. Digital copies of DVD’s are typically bundled with a purchased disc and are considered part of the DVD. They are a lower quality version of the film designed solely for use on a computer for transfer to a portable device. They are NOT a stand alone item. If a DVD you are trading included a “Digital Copy”, you are encouraged but not required to include it with the actual DVD.
Obviously, most users simply do not want only the Digital Copy of a DVD and therefore Swaptree does not support the trading of them. This information will soon be posted to the FAQ’s but we felt it was important to post the information on the forums as well.
Best Regards,
The Swaptree Team

Expire after a limited time ...
It is worth noting that in many instances the ability to download the digital copy expires within a limited timeframe.

?
I understand the frustration of not getting the
Whole Package Deal
as I would be too.
Although, I would like to ask...(hope it's not silly)
If the digital copy is Not a stand alone item,
how is it possible to not have to include it in with the package too?
What your saying is- it's okay to trade without the digital copy- but it's not okay to trade the digital copy alone.
Is a digital copy only good for a one-time user? -or-
is the disk similar to a bonus features disk?
Trying to understand the concept of
"Digital Copy"

Digital copy
Apparently when you buy a dvd it will have a coupon or a sheet of paper saying you can download the same movie over the internet and the coupon has codes so you can download your digital copy of the same dvd you just bought.

yes BUT: That sheet of paper with the code doesn't last forever. Depending on the publisher of the DVD title, you can wait too long (time varies) and then you get a message like "the digital copy for this title has expired", or similar.
You are never given the opportunity to enter the "key" you are holding for a digital copy.

one problem with this "digital copy"
When many Disney DVDs are saying that they are the 3 disc special editions
one of those discs is the digital copy
I have 4 of these special edition 3 disc Disney sets and on all 4 there is a third disc but it is a digital copy. To me it is sort of unfair to say that people are not obligated to send the digital copy yet ST still counts the disc when qualifying it as a high value item. Either the disc is included to make it high value and therefore digital "disc" (not the paper downloads") are required to be included or ST shouldn't count these as high value items. It should be one way or the other... not both ways. IMHO
