You Are There

Mono (not to be confused with the British trip-hop duo of the same name) is a Japanese post-rock outfit that alternates atmospheric, ambient passages with distortion and discordant sonic textures. YOU ARE THERE, the group's fifth album, is produced by Steve Albini and holds to Mono's minimalist principles, exploring repetitive figures on guitar and augmenting those with strings, keys, and other instruments. The effect is a palpable one: YOU ARE THERE may make listeners feel as though they are suspended in amber or thrown on the rocks after a magnificent flight.
